Directions
Kaloko-Honokohau Beach, which is part of a National Historical Park
is located just north of Kailua town and is accessible from
Honokohau Harbor/Marina. This long, beautiful, secluded coral sand
beach features an authentic heiau (temple) where the ancient
Hawaiians would make offerings for their safety while fishing the
nearby waters. You will see honu (green sea turtles) basking
on the shoreline and feeding in the shallow waters. If we're lucky,
we'll see humpback whales breaching on the horizon. The photo of
Irene and Tim to the left was taken in an area beyond the beach.
Please
join us in this beautiful setting for a wine, beer and pupu picnic
as we watch the sunset (and maybe a famous "green flash"). Feel free
to arrive early to swim, snorkel and explore. We will gather near the halau at the south end of the
beach.
